Thanks guys for a great experience. When I saw the amount of snow, plus a full moon, I joked that we would hardly need a light! I didn't know at that time that I would be out so long that my batteries would almost run out. Towards the end I was running without a light where possible, to keep a little power left for the controls in the wood. Yes, I do carry a spare light but it's a tiny LED good enough for reading the map and little else. Possibly the longest I have ever taken on a night event, but all good fun! Thigh-deep snow makes a change from knee-deep mud I guess.
